Any limits for number of rules ? was created by Stef
Hi Luigi,
1 month now I'm using RedJ on one of my website and I am still amazed by its effectiveness !
I'm beginning to use it on more and more websites, de-activting Joomla Core and/or Admintools redirect...
I wanted to know if there's any limitation of the number of rules I can activate on 1 website.
I do not have much for now, (4 or 5) but in case "8" is already too much for a specialist ?
PS : I will never have finished thank you for the Table Mapping function of your tools, and PLUS : I didn't notice any extra charge on my ressources, so... thanks again :-) )

Hi Stef,
there is no limit to the number of rules you can implement. BTW, the query can't be optimized due to the regular expression support, so it is better to have no more than a couple of hundreds rules (in my experience there are no performance issue with these numbers). Consider that usually you don't need more than 10 / 20 rules even for big sites, unless you start to use the rules in the wrong way.

A rule must match multiple URLs and redirect to multiple (different) destination. For a one-on-one redirection you should/must use the error redirection feature, that has a query optimized with an index.

Kind regards,
Luigi
